Check Their Licensing
Before commencing any plumbing work always ask for the tradie to supply you with their official company and/or personal licenses so that you know they are a registered professional. You should also ask if their company holds a minimum $20 million liability insurance policy.
Request Certification
If you are requiring services such as gas fitting or repairs be sure to ask the trades person for relevant compliance certification to demonstrate they can carry out this kind of work.
Ask For A Written Plumbing Quote
Prior to a plumber beginning your service, ensure that you have a written quote stating the work that will be carried out. This provides you with proof of what is being promised.
Payment
NEVER pay more than a 10% deposit before your plumbing services are carried out and DO NOT pay in cash. This will enable a trackable payment exchange should anything go awry. Be sure to also ask for a receipt of service!
