What is your role at the company and what do you like most about it? My current position within the company is one of two team leaders. I enjoy the responsibility of guiding team members through any tasks they may have issues with, I believe the development of our younger apprentices is crucial.
How did you first get involved in your field? I first started my plumbing apprenticeship when i was 16 after completing work experience with family friend. I found the hard work and satisfaction of helping others rewarding.
What are some of your proudest professional accomplishments? Completing my apprenticeship and gaining further qualifications within the construction industry.
What do you do outside of work to recharge and have fun? I believe keeping reasonably fit and maintaining a social life is key to recharging and having fun.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing your industry today? The price of materials and other contractors lowering standards and prices to complete jobs. I can guarantee the lowest price is not always the best.
What are your future career goals? My future goal would be to improve as a plumber and progress within the company.
What advice would you give to someone starting in your field? Being polite, having common sense and a good work ethic goes along way, and there is always going to be horrible days but as long as you turn up the next day they get easier.
What are some of your favourite things about working for this company? I enjoy working for a family run business that has a great culture focused around team morale and customer service.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you? I have a keen interest in investment property’s and shares.
What are you currently reading, watching, or listening to that you would recommend to others? At the moment my spare time is taken up by baby podcasts as we are expecting our first child. But I would highly recommend books like the barefoot investor, You can’t hurt me, rich dad poor dad, and the subtle art of not giving a f#%k.
